The International Labor Association (ILO) is a division of the United Nations, aimed at the promotion of social justice, labor rights and human rights. Founded in 1919, it is the only surviving organization from the Treaty of Versailles, and in 1946 it was the main organ of the UN. Within the UN system, the ILO is a unique organization committed to establishing equality among employers, employees and within governments.
The ILO works through treaties and plans to create globally recognizable standards for freedom of assembly, freedom of association, collective bargaining, abolition of forced labor, equal opportunity and equal treatment. At the same time, the ILO also supports the development of other employer or employee groups and enthusiastically provides these institutions with training and counseling services. |
