Social Accountability International (SAI) is an NGO headquartered in New York that is aimed at the development and perfection of CSR standard systems. Their flagship system is SA8000, a worldwide factory CSR authentication meant to realize SAI's CSR standards. In order to eliminate sweat shops and improve worker rights, SAI engages in research, evaluations, training, auditing and team building, and also incorporates beneficial suggestions from workers, labor unions, factories, governments, CSR investors, NGOS and consumers as it improves the SA8000 independent criteria. SAI's goal is to improve understanding and support for SA8000 in the global market and turn SA8000 into a tool for the harmonious advancement of labor and capital.
