The primary aim of ICO's Worker's Club is to set up non-work-related activities for migrant workers, as well as provide them with a reading room and library where they may have access to books, newspapers and periodicals. The Workers' Club looks to provide its members with extra opportunities for study and entertainment, and simultaneously serve as a discussion platform for ICO and migrant workers.
Since its inception in March 2004, the Workers' Club has already held a number of lecture programs on practical, useful topics, including lectures on legal knowledge, interpersonal communication, occupational health and safety, female reproductive health and city life. Moreover, it has also held a number of informal parties, symposia, cultural activities and competitions (like karaoke, chess and ping-pong) and weekend movie nights. These kinds of everyday, non-work activities not only give migrant workers a good place to go after work, but provide them with good experiences and enrich their lives outside of the work environment.
