Sharing Experiences and Strategies: The Civil Forum for Labor Rights

Five Topics
The first topic is Chinese Labor's Difficulties in Globalization, presented by Dr. Liu Kaiming. Dr. Sarah Cook, from Ford Foundation Beijing, discussed the elements affecting Chinese labor rights from the view of economy, mentioned that globalization is the key factor. Ms. Ge Youli, director of Global Workers and Community Cooperation, proposed to build multi-partnership to overcome barriers together.
The second topic is the effect of media on labor rights protection, presented by Xie Lihua from Chinese Women News. Mr. Sun Fuhai, a journalist of Workers' Daily, analyzed how to create future for migrant workers from the view of the effect and responsibility of media. Lin Gu, a reporter of Xinhua News Press, mentioned that more and more reports reflected the migrant workers issues. And Gaoyun, editor of Chinese Labor Security Newspaper, hoped that newspaper can affect government to give more attention to migrant workers issues. The participants from media discussed this topic actively.
The third topic is actions of lawyers on labor rights protection, presented by lawyer Jiang Junlu from China National Lawyers Association. Lawyer Liang Zhi, from Beijing Liangzhi Attorney Affairs, addressed important effect of lawyer on labor rights protection. The participants delivered opinions actively.
The forth topic is the relationship of civil law-aid organizations and labor rights protection, presented by Liang Baolin from Asia Data Research Center. Professor Peng Xihua of University analyzed the character and types of civil law-aid organizations, and their difficulties in conducting labor rights protection. A video record brought by Chen Yuying, director of Chongqing Disabled Aid Center, showed that how important the labor rights protection is.
The fifth topic is the ways to implement labor rights protection, presented by Gaoyun. Dr. Liukaiming, Director of ICO, made summary speech. All participants reflected that they were enlightened by different opinions in the forum.
